Cox makes changes to digital lineup
Wednesday, March 17, 2004 | 8:14 a.m.
Cox Communications is adding six channels to its digital service. Beginning April 22, the digital cable service tier will include:
National Geographic, channel 334; History International, channel 335; Biography Channel, channel 336; Starz! Kids, channel 265; Cinemax HD, channel 711 and Starz! HD, channel 721.
To make room for Starz! Kids, Cox is moving Encore West from channel 265 to channel 266. Cox will also remove the East Coast feeds for HBO HD and Showtime HD to free space for additional movie channels.
"Our research shows that customers want more high-definition, or HDTV, programming, along with with additional educational programming and movie channel selections," Steve Schorr, vice president of public and government affairs for Cox Communications, said in a press release.
"Also, we know our customers want to enjoy commercial-free movie channels in a variety of genres. With the addition of Cinemax HD, Starz! Kids, National Geographic, History International and Biography Channel, we expand the scope of our dependable viewing choices for everyone."
Also, on April 22 Cox cable will add a Customer Communication Channel to its expanded basic service.
The Customer Communication Channel (channel 96) will offer local programming, such as coverage of government issues and community-focused activities such as parades.
