Church can now use space temporarily at hotel’s theaters

Green Valley Ranch Station officials now say they will allow a local church to use space at the resort's Regal Cinemas through April 11, Easter Sunday.

The extension is to give the church time to look for another location, Station Casinos spokeswoman Leslie Pittman said.

John Paul Warren, pastor of the 6-month-old Masterpiece Church, said he has accepted the offer but that he still wants Station Casinos to honor the lease he has with Regal Cinemas and allow him to stay for the remaining two years.

The Masterpiece Church pastor and his congregation were turned away from the theaters Sunday because the church's lease with Regal Cinemas violated Regal Cinemas' lease with Green Valley Ranch Station, Pittman said. The church had been meeting in one of the theaters since Feb. 1.

Station Casinos prohibits Regal Cinemas from renting theaters for religious services in the company's lease agreements.
