Music
Jazz festival
UNLV presents the Newport Jazz Festival, celebrating the golden anniversary of the East Coast's most illustrious jazz festival, at 8 p.m. today at UNLV's Performing Arts Center as part of the "Best of the New York Stage" series. Tickets are $25, $35 and $50. 895-2787.
Wind quintet
The Las Vegas Wind Quintet will perform at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Charleston Heights Arts Center, 800 S. Brush St. Admission is free. 229-6383.
Brass ensemble
UNLV will host a concert by the Elmshorn Brass Ensemble at 8 p.m. Sunday at Artemus Ham Concert Hall as part of its "I Have a Dream" USA Friendship Tour. Admission is free. 895-1688.
Jazz orchestra
The Nevada Jazz Orchestra will devote a concert to the Afro-Cuban jazz tradition in "Latin Connection II" at 2 p.m. Sunday at Winchester Cultural Center, 3130 S. McLeod Drive. Tickets are $15 general, $10 seniors and students, $7 jazz society and guitar society members. 455-7340.
Festivals
The following festivals will be held by the Clark County School District Fine Arts Division at UNLV's Artemus Ham Hall this week:
7 p.m. Saturday -- Orff Instrument Festival. Admission is free. 895-3787.
8 a.m. Monday through Wednesday -- Middle School Band Festival. Admission is free. 799-5478.
8 a.m. Thursday -- High School Band Festival. Admission is free. 799-5478.
Concert
The UNLV Jazz Ensemble I will perform at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at UNLV's Judy Bayley Theatre. Admission is free. 895-2787.
Jubilee Singers
The Jubilee Singers of First Presbyterian Church, Las Vegas, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Green Valley Presbyterian Church, 1798 Wigwam Parkway. Admission is free, but a freewill offering will be taken. 454-8484.
Theater
'It Ain't All Confetti'
Rip Taylor's "It Ain't All Confetti" will be staged at 8 p.m. today at UNLV's Judy Bayley Theatre. Tickets are $25 general, $20 seniors and students. 895-1575.
'Blow Your Horn'
Neil Simon's "Come Blow Your Horn" will be performed at 7:30 p.m. today, Saturday, and at 2 p.m. Sunday at CCSN's Performing Arts Department. Tickets are $10 adults, $8 seniors and students. 651-5483.
'Generation'
The New City Theatre presents "Generation," a comedy by William Goodhart, at 7:30 p.m. today and Saturday, and at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at 2900 E. Patrick Lane. Tickets are $14 for today and Saturday and $12 for Sundays, $10 for seniors and students. 795-0487.
