Conference set for women
In recognition of Women's History Month, the Daughters of Destiny, a nonprofit women's organization of Imani Cathedral United Methodist Church's Life Enrichment Institute, will hold their first Women's Conference Thursday through March 20 at Griffith United Methodist Church, 1701 E. Oakey Blvd.
The conference will encourage women to use stumbling blocks as stepping stones to individual achievement, self-fulfillment and personal happiness. In celebration of all women, the conference will also offer enrichment opportunities.

Grand opening set for park
Clark County's newest park will open to the public with a community celebration from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Molasky Family Park, 1065 E. Twain Ave.
The opening ceremonies, hosted by Commissioner Myrna Williams, will be followed by the annual One Unified Residency celebration featuring live music and dance, community information booths, children's games and activities, demonstrations of classes from Cambridge Recreation Center and limited refreshments provided by local restaurants such as Z' Tejas Grill, Memphis Championship Barbecue, Little Caesars and Panda Express.
Park amenities include a large play area with two shade shelters and a water feature, a sand volleyball court, a 1,900-foot resilient walking path, more open space, water-efficient irrigation, additional shade shelters, three picnic and barbecue areas and a dog run with three separate areas.

CCSN will host multicultural buffet
As part of the Multicultural Food and Dance Festival, foods and dancing from many nations will be featured from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at Community College of Southern Nevada's Cheyenne campus.
Guests will sample a buffet of ethnic foods reflecting cuisines from Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Carribbean, Europe and the Mediterranean.
The event is sponsored by the Associated Students of CCSN in conjunction with the Multicultural Faculty Committee, Multicultural Club and International Student Organization.

Choose or Lose contest on tap
Cox Communications and MTV Choose or Lose are holding auditions to find the next Choose or Lose MTV news correspondent for the upcoming presidential election.
Auditions are being held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Galleria at Sunset, 1300 Sunset Road.
One winner and his/her guest will fly to New York where the winner will train with the MTV News staff to become an official 2004 Cox and MTV Choose or Lose News correspondent. The winner will also receive a tour of the MTV studios.

Hadassah to honor women over 90
The Rishona chapter of Hadassah is holding a celebration of life for four members all over 90 years old.
The program for Alice Goldberg, Anne Cohen, Emilie Wanderer and Ida Glass will be at noon Monday at Sazio's restaurant at The Orleans, 4500 W. Tropicana Ave. Cost is $15 per person and reservations are required.

Credit counseling session is offered
Consumer Credit Counseling Services is offering the class "Making Ends Meet and Dreams Come True" from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at 2650 S. Jones Blvd.
Participants will learn methods to organize spending, reduce debt and maintain a good credit history without making costly or hazardous mistakes.

Cops, Thunderbirds meet for charity
North Las Vegas Police and the Air Force Thunderbirds will participate in the Stand Up for Kids charity softball game at 10 a.m. Thursday at Freedom Park, Washington Avenue and Pecos Road.
The event is sponsored by Buffalo Wild Wings. All proceeds will go to StandUpforKids.org, an organization committed to the rescue of homeless and steet kids.

The Red Rock Audubon Society
will meet and socialize with fellow bird watchers and nature lovers at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Nevada Power Co., 6226 W. Sahara Ave. Find out about the club's field trips, programs, and the club's community involvement. The event is free and open to the public. Call 390-9890.
