StumbleSEC, Calif. probes disclosed

INDIANAPOLIS -- Technical school operator ITT Educational Services Inc., whose offices in Nevada and other states were searched by U.S. Justice Department agents last month, is also under investigation by the Securities and Exchange Commission and has been under investigation by California's attorney general since October 2002.
The Indianapolis company disclosed the SEC and California probes Tuesday.
The California investigation focuses on whether ITT Educational falsified student grades and attendance records used for financial aid qualification
The company depends on federal and other student loan programs for its sales.
