The PacifiCare Foundation recently presented five community-based organizations throughout Las Vegas with $25,000 in contributions to put toward a variety of programs aimed at improving the lives of children throughout the community.
The nonprofit organization awarded grants in the amount of $5,000 to Boys & Girls Clubs of Las Vegas, Las Vegas Natural History Museum, Lied Discovery Children's Museum, Southern Nevada, AHEC, and Street Teens.
"We are pleased to support such worthwhile organizations and look forward to working together to help meet the critical needs of the community," PacifiCare President Bill Wood said in a written statement.
PacifiCare believes "caring is good, doing something is better" and the Foundation is another way the company is taking action to help improve the communities it serves, Wood said.
The foundation has donated tens of millions of dollars over the past ten years and is funded through donations made by PacifiCare Health Systems, PacifiCare subsidiary operations and its 7,800-plus employees.
