Fresno's Brusseau blanks Wranglers
Mike Brusseau stopped 39 shots and led the Fresno Falcons to a 1-0 victory against the Las Vegas Wranglers in an ECHL game Sunday night at Fresno's Save Mart Arena.
It marked the third time this season the expansion Wranglers had been shut out, but they remained in second place in the Pacific Division, six points behind the San Diego Gulls and seven points ahead of third-place Idaho.
After a scoreless first period, the Falcons broke through on Kris Porter's 14th goal of the season on an assist from Jason Weaver.
The Wranglers (36-19-6) , who already have qualified for the Kelly Cup playoffs, next play Friday and Saturday at Bakersfield before returning home March 19 for the start of a two-game series against the Idaho Steelheads.
Before the game, the Wranglers announced that forward Eric Schneider had been reactivated from the injury list and that defenseman Jonathan Shockey had been added to the injury list.
U.S. gets 10 indoors
Gail Devers took the silver in the 60-meter dash, failing in her attempt for an uprecedented double to go with her 60-meter hurdles win, and the United States finished the world indoor championships at Budapest, Hungary, with 10 medals, far behind the 19 collected by first-place Russia.
