Funeral arrangements for Las Vegas Sun chairman and former Nevada Gov. Mike O'Callaghan have been set.
Visitation for O'Callaghan will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday at the Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. There will also be a one-hour visitation at the Shrine of the Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church before the 1 p.m. funeral Mass.
The church is at 55 E. Reno Ave., just east of the Strip near Tropicana Avenue. Graveside services will follow at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City.
The Korean War veteran served at the Sun for 25 years following his two terms as one of Nevada's most popular governors. In addition to serving his country in all three branches of the military, O'Callaghan regularly provided aid to local Marines, fed the homeless and volunteered in war-torn countries such as Nicaragua and Israel.
O'Callaghan died Friday morning of an apparent heart attack just before morning Mass at St. Viator Catholic Church.
