Letter: Make Canadian drugs available

When we visit a supermarket we find a wide array of food, from the USA of course, but also items from the far corners of the world. We buy these foods without hesitation.

But now the Bush administration is telling us that drugs that we can order from Canada are potentially dangerous, and it is prohibiting states and individuals from getting drugs from pharmacies there even though the savings are enormous.

Who are they really trying to protect? The people who often desperately need these medicines, or the drug companies who contribute large sums to the Bush campaign? What savings they are assuring seniors of with their prescription drug plan will be meaningless if we can't shop for the best deal, and prices here are kept artificially high.
