Jordan Landry's goal with 2:03 to play Wednesday gave the Fresno Falcons a 5-4 victory, ending the Las Vegas Wranglers' five-game winning streak. The Wranglers, who could have tied San Diego for first place in the ECHL Pacific Division, have already clinched a spot in the playoffs.
Defenseman Mike McBain scored two goals for the Wranglers (36-18-6) in their first loss to Fresno in nine games (7-1-1) this season. Greg Day and Cam Bristow scored the other Wranglers goals.
Real Madrid must pay
FIFA today ordered Real Madrid to pay an additional 10 million euros ($12.2 million) to Inter Milan for the 2002 acquisition of Ronaldo.
Tiger even in Dubai
Tiger Woods was at even-par through 12 holes when darkness suspended today's first round of the Dubai Desert Classic. Bradley Dredge of Wales shot an 8-under 64 to take the early lead after fog delayed the tournament's start by 2 1/2 hours.
Rebels rally in ninth
Johnny Uriegas' two-out, two-run single in the ninth inning lifted UNLV to an 11-10 victory against Southern Utah. Matt Minor was the winning pitcher for the Rebels (8-5), who begin a three-game weekend series at home Friday against Mahnattan. The start of Sunday's game has been moved up to noon to accommodate the Jaspers' travel schedule.

Starting fullback Brandon Hancock could miss all of USC's season because doctors believe he has a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
UNLV blanks BC
UNLV's men's team improved to 4-3 with a 7-0 victory at home against Boston College (3-6).
