Breast cancer event planned for Wednesday
Fit for the Cure, a program designed to help women across America join in the fight against breast cancer will take place Wednesday at the Nordstrom store at the Fashion Show mall.
Every woman who participates in a free bra fitting, Wacoal America, Inc. and Nordstrom will each donate $1 to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. During the event, Wacoal fit specialists will properly 'fit' women in bras from Wacoal, Donna Karan Intimates and DKNY Underwear. Wacoal will also donate an additional $2 for every bra sold from its Awareness Collection during the fit event. Wacoal and Nordstrom fitters will also educate women about the advantage of early detection and good breast health.
Shoe, toy donations sought
Friends of Komodo, Kidz Park and Wild Animal Zoo will present the second annual shoe and toy drive main event from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Findlay Toyota, 925 Auto Show Drive, Henderson.
Items to be collected in new or like new condition are: children's shoes (sizes for 1-6 grades), boy's action figures and girls dolls, sport equipment, and clothing for all ages.
Donations will be collected through Wednesday.

Low-income tax clinic to be opened
Nevada Legal Services will officially open its Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic at 11 a.m. Friday.
LITC provides Nevadans online free tax preparation services and a toll free number to answer tax questions, as well as free tax preparation assistance sites, located all over the state.

Fund-raiser set for Bishop Gorman
Bishop Gorman's second annual Knight of the Gael event will be held at 6:30 Wednesday at the Texas.
The annual gala is the school's premier fund-raiser and helps students receive a quality Catholic education.
Admission is $250.

Applications taken for Mount Charleston panel
Clark County is currently accepting applications to fill a vacant seat on its five-member Town Advisory Board for Mount Charleston.
The Town Advisory Board holds public meetings once and sometimes twice a month on Mondays at 7:30 p.m. at the Mount Charleston Library located at 1252 Aspen Ave. in the Old Town area.
Applicants must be 18 years old and qualified electors with a primary residence within the Mount Charleston Town Advisory Board boundaries.
Anyone interested should call Clark County Administrative Services at 455-3530 or go to the county website at www.accessclarkcounty.com to obtain an application.
Applications may be submitted by mail or in person at Administrative Services, Clark County, 500 S. Grand Central Parkway, Las Vegas, Nevada 89155, or by fax at 455-3558.
