Gaming regulators consider sale of closed casino
Wednesday, March 3, 2004 | 9:10 a.m.
The state Gaming Control Board is slated to consider the sale at 3:00 p.m., with the Nevada Gaming Commission scheduled to take up the matter at 4:00 p.m.
Under terms of the proposed deal, current owner Becky Binion Behnen would sell the property to MTR Gaming, while Harrah's Entertainment Inc. would operate the property for one year, with two additional one-year options.
Gaming regulators are expected to make certain the deal provides for full reimbursement for Horseshoe patrons holding winning sports bet tickets and gaming chips, but are not expected to discuss the results of investigations regulators have conducted over the past 4 1/2 years into Behnen's operation of the property.
If regulators approve the sale, the transaction would take place Thursday and the property would reopen on April 1.
