Patricia A. Bale

Patricia A. Bale, 55, of Mesquite died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born March 22, 1948, in Las Vegas. A resident for 55 years, she was a slot audit clerk in the gaming industry.

She is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Shadduck and Denise Fick, both of Las Vegas; three brothers, Byron Humes of Las Vegas, Scott Humes of North Las Vegas and Richard Humes of Reno; three sisters, Marilyn Kruger of Porterville, Calif., Carolyn Roberts of North Las Vegas and Debra Clemons of Las Vegas; her friend, Rea Leaver of Mesquite; and six grandchildren.

Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Kathern F. Boteler

Kathern F. Boteler, 90, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born Feb. 11, 1914, in Ellamore, W.Va. A resident for 26 years, she was a retired engineer in the ship-building industry and a member of Eastern Star.

She is survived by one son, Thomas Fraley of Las Vegas; one sister, Genevieve Hornbeck of Barberton, Ohio; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 1 p.m. until a 3 p.m. service Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Louis Cantor

Louis Cantor, 91, of Henderson died Saturday in a local care center. He was born April 14, 1912, in Russia. A resident for eight years, he was a retired draftsman and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by one son, Karl Cantor of Henderson; one daughter, Ann Cantor of Arroya Grande, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Vern Cardwell

Vern Cardwell, 70, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born May 14, 1933, in Waco, Texas. A resident for 14 years, he was a retired truck driver and a Korean War Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Bronis; three daughters, Lisa Haddaii of Kansas City, Kan., and Sherri Likos-Franco and Tammy Morris, both of Las Vegas; two sons, Christopher Cardwell of Anaheim, Calif., and Tammy Morris of Las Vegas; two brothers, James Cardwell and Norman Cardwell, both of Redding, Calif.; one sister, Carolann Squires of Wisconsin; and nine grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 9-11 a.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will follow at noon Wednesday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

LeRoy Clark

LeRoy Clark, 68, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 12, 1915, in Waterproof, La. A resident for 43 years, he was a retired county government custodian, a former Showboat employee and had operated Clark's Janitorial Service.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Nell; four daughters, Mildred Clark of Bastrop, La., Sylvia Clark of Henderson and Letetia Moore and Lashaunder Clark, both of Las Vegas; two sons, Leonard Clark and Jerome Spates, three stepsons, Jeremy Spates, Amos James and Henry James, and three stepdaughters, Linda James, Mildred Moore and Mary Carroll, all of Las Vegas; four sisters, Audrey Washington of Ferriday, La., Ethel Denson and Marguerite Clark, both of Las Vegas, and Verlon Clark of California; 19 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Greater Faith Church, 2736 Chamberlain Lane. Graveside services will be 12:30 p.m. Friday in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Donald M. Cohn

Donald M. Cohn, 81, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. A retired real estate builder and an Army veteran, he was born May 10, 1922, in Detroit.

He is survived by his life partner, Maxine Haidy of Las Vegas; three daughters, Robin Rick, Tami Austin and Cyndi Vorkink, all of Los Angeles; and one stepdaughter, Pam Seidman of Las Vegas; and seven grandchildren.

Grover E. 'Curley' Colter

Grover E. "Curley" Colter, 88, of Hastings, Neb., died Thursday in Hastings. He was born Sept. 11, 1915, in Cove Creek, Ark. A former Las Vegas resident, he was a retired heavy equipment operator, a painter for Rose Reality, a World War II Army veteran, a member of American Legion Post 11, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 9, Masonic Lodge 50, Scottish Rite and Tehama Shrine.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen.

He is survived by his wife, Katherine; one son, David Colter of Olivehurst, Calif.; two daughters, Carol Borrell of Hastings and Kathy Borntager of Pahrump; two stepsons, Paul Archer of Minneapolis and David Archer of Olympia Valley, Calif.; four stepdaughters, Bonnie Nowka and Carolyn Fisher, both of Hastings, Katherine Mahlen of Eden Prairie, Minn., and Ellen Kotera of Superior, Wis.; one sister, Thelma Smith of Bladen, Neb.; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

No local services are scheduled. Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home, Hastings, is handling arrangements.

Armani Alexander Cota

Armani Alexander Cota, 3 months, of Henderson died Friday in a local hospital. He was born Nov. 25, 2003, in Henderson.

He is survived by his parents, Yvette and Mario Cota, and two sisters, Arianna Cota and Marissa Cota, all of Henderson; and his grandparents, Denice and Carlos Medina of Henderson and Melinda and Mario Aburto of Las Vegas.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Chapel, Henderson. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Henderson.

Elisa C. Escobar

Elisa C. Escobar, 21, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 18, 1982, in Plantation, Fla. A resident for nine years, she was an actress, a 2001 graduate of Green Valley High School, attended the Art Institute of Las Vegas and was a member of the UNLV Marching Band and the Green Valley High School Color Guard.

She is survived by her father, Jose D. Escobar Sr. of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; her mother, Lucille Escobar, and two brothers, Jose D. Escobar Jr. and Javier Sosa, all of Henderson; and her grandmother, Anna Elisa Escobar of Colombia.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today and 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Rosary will be 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Chapel. Mass will be celebrated 1:30 p.m. Thursday in St. Joseph, Husband of Mary Catholic Church, 7260 W. Sahara Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Bert Flores

Bert Flores, 73, of North Las Vegas died Friday. He was born Feb. 22, 1931, in the Philippines. A resident for four years, he was a retired security officer and an Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Myrna; five daughters, Elizabeth F. Soriano of Kapolei, Hawaii, Erlinda B. Flores-Mata of North Las Vegas, Edna F. Adriano and Elsa B. Flores, both of the Philippines and Eva F. Betto of Fukuoka, Japan; three sons, Edward B. Flores of the Philippines, Elvis B. Flores of North Las Vegas and Emerson B. Flores of Merrysville, Wash.; 28 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 9 a.m. until a 6 p.m. service Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Ralph Dewey Hale Jr.

Ralph Dewey Hale Jr., 63, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born April 15, 1940, in Nebraska. A resident 36 years, he was a photographer.

He is survived by his wife, Judi.

Harold 'Hal' Hulsing

Harold "Hal" Hulsing, 89, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born July 11, 1914, in Minneapolis. A resident for 15 years, he was a retired immigration regional commissioner and a World War II Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Susan; two daughters, Heather "Corey" Dahline of Angwin, Calif., and Stacy Hulsing of Dubois, Wyo.; three sons, Darel Hulsing of Estes Park, Colo., Joel Hulsing of Peterson, Minn., and Lyle Hulsing of Winona, Minn.; one sister, Joan Hulsing of Minneapolis; many grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd.

R.D. Laymon

R.D. Laymon, 85, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 14, 1918, in Chattanooga, Tenn. A resident for 41 years, he was a retired carpenter and a World War II Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Louise.

Malia T. Palaita

Malia T. Palaita, 63, of Las Vegas died Feb. 18 in Las Vegas. She was born May 7, 1940, in Western Samoa. A resident for seven years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Uigaese; six daughters, Kamila Pasina, Etevise Aulanmea, Tula Gude, Christine Tise and Shelley Palaita, all of Las Vegas, and Lolomi Pinto of Utah; four sons, Siauman Augafa and Uigaese Palaita Jr., both of Las Vegas, Atonio Augafa of Missouri and Tavesi Augafa of Hawaii; two brothers, Felise Tauiliili and Sumatala Tauiliili; two sisters, Ella Saau and Imakulala Filo; 25 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 1-5 p.m. Thursday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church, 1111 Michael Way. Burial will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens.

Pauline Perez

Pauline Perez, 86, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born Feb. 16, 1918, in Oklahoma. A resident for 16 years, she was an assistant baker.

She is survived by one son, Charles F. Bise of Las Vegas.

Deborah Rae Sexter

Deborah Rae Sexter, 65, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born May 28, 1938, in New York. A resident for three years, she was a judge, a member of Silvertones Jewish Friendship Club and the New York Club at Sun City.

She is survived by her husband, Jay; two sons, David and Michael; one daughter, Deborah; two sisters, Miriam and Arlene; and one grandchild.

Lillian Siegel

Lillian Siegel, 92, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born Feb. 1, 1912, in Illinois. A resident for 20 years, she was a store owner.
