Woman in slaying case in custody

Monday, March 1, 2004 | 9:54 a.m.

Metro Police located a woman they believe used the ATM card of a homicide victim shortly after he was shot at his front door on Feb. 5.

Aquilla Lee, 24, was taken into custody and interviewed by homicide detectives shortly after her arrest on misdemeanor warrants Saturday night, police said.

Lee was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on the warrants.

Surveillance video from a convenience store allowed police to identify Lee in connection with the case of 61-year-old Donald Ursem, who was shot by a man who had knocked on his front door in the 5700 block Carl Street, near Vegas Drive and Jones Boulevard. The gunman demanded Ursem's wallet before shooting him, police said.

The investigation into Ursem's homicide is ongoing, police said.

Homicide detectives rebooked Walter Crawford, the owner of the black sport utility vehicle that Lee drove to the ATM machine, on one count of robbery with a deadly weapon and battery with substantial bodily harm, police said.

The robbery occurred Feb. 11. Police allege Crawford beat a man on the head with a golf club and took his wallet and cell phone, police said.
