Teenage brothers charged in stabbing of boy

A 15-year-old boy and his 17-year-old brother have been charged as adults for allegedly stabbing and trying to slash the throat of a 14-year-old boy last week, Metro Police said.
The brothers allegedly attacked the younger boy on Feb. 25 in the 1600 block of North Pecos after two groups of juveniles exchanged words and gang signs.
During the fight between the two groups, the younger boy was stabbed several times and fell to the ground.
"As the victim was lying on the ground, the (17-year-old) suspect stood over him and held the victim's head up while attempting to slash his throat," said Sgt. Dave Stansbury of Metro's Gang Crime Bureau.
"The victim had some slash wounds on his hands, defensive wounds, that he apparently received when he put his hands up around his throat to block the knife."
The 14-year-old was treated at University Medical Center's trauma center and was later released to his parents, Stansbury said.
Later on the night of the stabbing, the brothers turned themselves in to a minister at a Victory Outreach Church, Stans- bury said.
