Authorities have released the name of the 40-year-old Las Vegas man who was struck by a vehicle and killed Monday in the parking lot of a convenience store in the 5100 block of East Tropicana Avenue.
The coroner's office identified the man as Martin Diaz-Barboza.
Kristopher Presley, 21, of Las Vegas, whom witnesses later identified as the driver, is charged with murder in connection with Diaz-Barboza's death, Metro Police said.
Presley struck Diaz-Barboza on purpose, Metro Lt. Tom Monahan said.
A group of three men, including Diaz-Barboza, had been sitting on a curb in the parking lot when another group of four arrived in a vehicle at the convenience store, Monahan said.
"Tempers flared," Monahan said. "At one point, a man sitting on the curb started throwing beer bottles at the vehicle."
The driver of the car then ran over Diaz-Barboza, Monahan said.
Diaz was pronounced dead at the scene.
