Injunction ordered against tax return preparer

The U.S. Justice Department said Tuesday that it has received a permanent injunction against Jeffrey Dean Hubacek, a Las Vegas tax return preparer.
The order, signed last week by U.S. District Court Judge James C. Mahan, bars Hubacek from preparing federal income tax returns for customers and demands that he turn over to the Justice Department a complete list of his customers.
The order said Hubacek's actions since Jan. 1, 2000, have resulted in tax understatements of at least $393,000.
Reached at his home, Hubacek said he was unaware of the order.
"I haven't done anything wrong," he said. "They've got it backward ... All I can tell you is that they are liars and janitors."
