About 75 friends, family members and customers of a Kwiky Mini Mart clerk who was shot and killed at work late last week gathered in the parking lot of the convenience store Sunday night for a candlelight vigil held in his honor.
Bashar "Robert" Younan, 32, was working behind the counter of the Kwiky Mini Mart, at 1955 E. Tropicana Ave. near Spencer Street, early Thursday afternoon when he was shot. Metro Police believe robbery was the motive.
Younan's family is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the killer's arrest and conviction, the man's cousin, Eddie Marogi, said.
Marogi made a plea to those attending the vigil to contact police if they have any information about the shooting.
"A crime like this happened in the middle of the day when a place like this is busy," Marogi said. "If anyone heard or saw anything, please call the police.
"No matter how small you think it might be -- everything helps," he said.
Marogi described his cousin as a man who "would always help anybody who needed it" and a someone who "loved life, loved his family and loved his new country."
"This didn't have to happen to a man so early in his age," Marogi said. "Please, if anyone knows anything, please help us find the bad person who did this."
Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.
