As a resident of White Pine County, a proposed water source for Las Vegas, I was startled by the Sun's June 9 quote from Pat Mulroy: "The notion that we have a finite supply of water, and when that finite supply is gone you stop growing, is in the past."
Pat Mulroy probably knows more about public water supply than all the rest of us together, so I wonder what she means by that remark. She has also said that the rural counties will not be left high and dry.
The answer she has in mind, then, must be real conservation of water by all of us desert dwellers, and Pat Mulroy is one of those visionaries who can lead the way. It will mean truly changing our habits, but we'll learn to love it.
