Letter: Keep religion out of politics
Wednesday, June 23, 2004 | 9:14 a.m.
If we are ever so foolish as to allow religion-driven politics to dictate inserting an amendment to protect marriage into the U.S. Constitution in contravention of its separation of church and state, then it follows that the Constitution should be further amended to ban divorce and living together without benefit of marriage.
It also follows that religious institutions should be taxed as any other person or business. That would be a fair balancing of the scales of justice.
