Letter: Garcia’s vehicle is extravagant
Wednesday, June 23, 2004 | 9:14 a.m.
Superintendent Carlos Garcia wants us to know that the purchase, at taxpayer expense, of his new $29,888 sport utility vehicle is justified because he needs such a vehicle to visit school construction sites.
Apparently his former vehicle, also a Ford Explorer, just couldn't make it to those construction sites, even though it will now be used by a facilities supervisor, who, I imagine, probably makes a lot more visits to job sites than Mr. Garcia does.
Let's state the facts as they really are: Mr. Garcia wanted a free, fancy vehicle and hoped taxpayers wouldn't notice.
