Competing interests emerge

Wednesday, June 23, 2004 | 10:42 a.m.

At least three groups have now expressed interest in buying the golf course and golfing rights at the Las Vegas Country Club, officials said today.

Prospects for the sale of the country club just east of the Las Vegas Hilton emerged Monday, when developer Steve Wynn offered about $40 million for the course and the golfing rights.

This morning, it was learned a group of business people had been talking to the country club board of directors about a purchase prior to the Wynn announcement.

And a third group emerged today. BBX Equity Group said it's offering $80,000 per membership, compared to Wynn's $50,000. The BBX group said it would construct condominiums at the site. Further details were unavailable by the Sun's press time today.
