Life given in child-sex case
A District Court judge sentenced a former child care worker to a minimum of 30 years in jail Friday for sexual assault and child pornography charges.
Kimya Winbush, 27, a former employee of Creative Beginnings day care center, 5345 E. Bonanza Road, pleaded guilty to sexually abusing children.
In accordance with a plea agreement between prosecutors and Winbush's lawyer, District Judge Valorie Vega sentenced Winbush to five life sentences in prison with the possibility of parole. The earliest Winbush can be released is after 30 years, and, if paroled, he will face lifetime supervision, sexual psychological evaluations before release.
Winbush pleaded guilty to sexual assault with a minor under 14, one count of lewdness with a minor under 14, three counts of using a minor in the production of pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.
Cause of F-15 crash sought
An Air Force safety board is investigating what caused an F-15C to crash about 60 miles northeast of Nellis Air Force Base Friday morning.
The $29.9 million dollar plane went down about 11 a.m. on Bureau of Land Management land after Maj. David Graff safely ejected, Nellis officials said.
Graff, an instructor with the weapons school at Nellis, was flying a training mission with another F-15C.
