Cooking show
Ruby Ann Boxcar, TV personality and best-selling author of five cookbooks, will host a free barbecue demonstration at noon Saturday at Creative Cooking School, 7385 W. Sahara Ave.
Folk Fest
Fitzgeralds Casino & Hotel will sponsor the International Folk Festival of Las Vegas from today to Sunday on Fremont Street in downtown Las Vegas. Nearly 800 performers will represent a variety of nations. Admission is free. 388-0948.
Poets' Corner
Keith Brantley and Pendelita Toney will host a "Poets' Corner," a forum for established poets and open-mike participants, at 7:30 p.m. today at the West Las Vegas Arts Center, 937 W. Lake Mead Blvd. Admission is free. 229-4800.

The city of Las Vegas' Cultural Affairs Division presents the movie "Cinderella" at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the West Las Vegas Arts Center, 947 W. Lake Mead Blvd., as part of its "Black Gems and Jewels" film series. Admission is free. 229-4800.
Juneteenth
Celebrate Juneteenth from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday at Sammy Davis Jr. Festival Plaza in Lorenzi Park, at the intersection of Twin Lakes Drive and West Washington Avenue. Admission is free, and the event will include cultural and educational activities, guest speakers, live entertainment, prizes, booths, traditional soul food and kids' activities. 255-6659.
'Amazing Castle'
The traveling interactive exhibit, "The Amazing Castle," continues until Aug. 29 at the Lied Discovery Children's Museum, 833 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Admission is $6 adults, $5 children 1-17, seniors and military families. 382-3445.
