Event scheduled for 5-15 Club

Mayor Oscar Goodman will kick off a membership drive and celebration from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Cashman Center Theater, for the the first members of the 5-15 Club, an organization for Las Vegas residents born on May 15, Las Vegas' birthday.

Members of the 5-15 Club will serve as birthday ambassadors as the city commemorates its 100 birthday next year with a yearlong celebration.

Driving a BMW can fight cancer

Henderson Police will be participating in the Ultimate Drive, a fund-raising event from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday at the Valley Auto Mall to support the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

The fund-raiser allows an individual to come to Desert BMW in the Henderson auto mall and choose from a variety of BMWs to drive. After driving for 20 minutes, with no BMW representative in the vehicle, BMW will donate to the cancer foundation $1 for every mile driven.

No donation from participants are required and there will be no sales efforts made by the dealership. You must be 21 years old and have a valid driver's license to participate. Call 267-4509 or 267-4510.

The Clark County Nevada Genealogical Society
