Maurice Cau

Maurice Cau, 83, of Beaver, Utah, died Wednesday in Beaver. He was born April 23, 1921, in France. A former Las Vegas resident, he was a sous chef at several local hotels, 1974 Chef of the Year, a World War II Army veteran and a member of Societe Culinaire Philanthropique and L'Union Francaise Lodge.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Madeleine Torch; and four brothers, Jean-Baptiste, Elie, Paul and Henri.

He is survived by one daughter, Denise Haen of Sturgeon Bay, Wis., and her mother, Simone; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Monday in Bunker Mortuary's Memory Gardens, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road. Southern Utah Mortuary, Beaver, is handling arrangements.

Janna T. Dahlin

Janna T. Dahlin, 76, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. A homemaker, she was born April 29, 1928, in Valburge, Holland.

She is survived by two daughters, Tanya Valenti of Las Vegas and Janna Dahlin of New Jersey; one son, Pete Dahlin of Las Vegas; and one brother, Richard Kool of Holland.

Visitation is scheduled 10 a.m. until an 8 p.m. service Friday in Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd.

Willie D. Daniels Sr.

Willie D. Daniels Sr., 66, of North Las Vegas died June 10. He was born Nov. 23, 1937, in Mornings Port, La. A resident for 48 years, he was a highway maintenance specialist for the Nevada State Department of Transportation and a pastor at Israelite Church of God in Christ.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Emma Jean; three daughters, Trina R. Daniels of North Las Vegas and Bridget J. Daniels and Wanette J. Daniels, both of Los Angeles; one son, Willie D. Daniels Jr. of Las Vegas; four brothers, Lawrence Daniels Jr. of Las Vegas, Clarence Coley of Columbia, S.C., Vernon Coley of Milwaukee and Willie G. Daniels of San Diego; four sisters, Beatrice Payne and Mildred Clemons, both of Houston, Mary Ann Knox of Las Vegas and Mary Lou Durham of Marshall, Texas; and six grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 3-7 p.m. Friday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Pentecostal Temple Church of God in Christ, 1117 N. F St. Burial will follow in Eden Vale Memorial Park.

Joseph P. Del Balzo

Joseph P. Del Balzo, 19, of Las Vegas died Tuesday. A student, he was born March 23, 1985, in St. Ignatius, Mont.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Brenda and Bill Rouillier of St. Ignatius; his stepmother, Dena Del Balzo of Las Vegas; three brothers, James Roberts of North Las Vegas, Danny Del Balzo of Las Vegas and Randy Rouillier of Rochester, N.H.; one sister, Lisa Roberts of Las Vegas; and his grandparents, Bill and Lorene Black of Aurora, Neb.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St.

Pearl H. Fowles

Pearl H. Fowles, 84, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local health care center. She was born Nov. 6, 1919, in Lake Forest, Ill. A resident for seven years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter, Denise Heinsohn of Las Vegas; one son, Richard D. Fowles of McHenry, Ill.; three sisters, Margaret Cooper of McHenry, Lorraine Baillie of Fort Myers, Fla., and Joan Meyer of Iron River, Mich.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Anthony Vincent Freijomil

Anthony Vincent Freijomil, 38, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born March 25, 1966, in New Jersey. A lifelong resident, he was a self-employed sports writer.

He is survived by one son, Derrick Freijomil of Montclair, N.J.; and his parents, Madeline and Frank Freijomil of North Bergen, N.J.

No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in New Jersey. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Vernon W. 'Bill' Knowles

Vernon W. "Bill" Knowles, 78, of Alliance, Ohio, died Sunday in Alliance. He was born May 10, 1926, in Alliance. A former Las Vegas resident until July 2002, he was an Alliance firefighter, a part-time employee for Ohio State Liquor Control, a World War II Navy veteran who served on the USS Kennebago in the Asiatic Pacific Theater, a Korean War veteran, a member of the Police and Fire Retirees of Ohio, International Association of Firefighters, the Alliance Bowlers Hall of Fame, a life member of Elks 467, American Legion Post 166, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036, Korean Conflict Veterans of America and Buckeye State Sheriffs Association and received the Meritorious Hall of Fame Service Award for years of bowling.

He is survived by his wife, Elsie Jane; three sisters, Sally Knowles and Linda Knowles, both of Alliance, and Dorothy Knowles of Akron, Ohio; two step-granddaughters, Kaile Hill, Jenna Hill and Jori Hill, all of Las Vegas; and three great-grandsons, Quinntin Teeling, Derek Teeling and Evan Teeling, all of Tucson.

No local services are scheduled. Cassady-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home, Alliance, is handling arrangements.

Yvona Jo LaKamp

Yvona Jo LaKamp, 63, of Henderson died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born Dec. 4, 1940, in Ohio. A resident for 18 years, she was a retired letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service and a former member of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by three daughters, Barbara LaKamp, Kimberly Syyan and Vonda LaKamp; one brother, Larry Cormican; one sister, Donna YsLava; and three grandchildren.

Sarah Un-Hae Lautenbach

Sarah Un-Hae Lautenbach, 3, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born Nov. 30, 2000, in Las Vegas.

She is survived by her parents, Jin Suk and Rick Lautenbach, and one brother, Nicholaas Lautenbach, all of Las Vegas; and her grandparents, Connie and Bill Lautenbach of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.

Visitation is scheduled 6-8 p.m. today and one hour prior to a 9 a.m. service Friday in Spring Valley Baptist Church, 3135 S. Rainbow Blvd. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest, 6701 N. Jones Blvd.

Geary K. Lee

Geary K. Lee, 34, of Henderson died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 4, 1969, in Las Vegas. A resident for 20 years, he was a hotel line cook.

He is survived by his wife, Lori; two daughters, Arielle White of Henderson and Rhiannon Lee of Las Vegas; two sons, John Napoli and Geary K. Lee III, and his parents, Kay Lee and Kathy Scarlett, all of Henderson; and three brothers, Earl Lee of Henderson, Jay Lee of Las Vegas and Layton Lee of Phoenix.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Sunday in Neighborhood Church, 203 W. Basic Road, Henderson. Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Raymond S. Lepczyk

Raymond S. Lepczyk, 86, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospice. He was born Aug. 22, 1917, in Buffalo, N.Y. A resident for 44 years, he was a retired electronics supervisor for the federal government and a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.

He is survived by two sons, Don Lepczyk and Mike Lepczyk, both of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 10 a.m. until a noon service Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Herbert L. McCann

Herbert L. McCann, 81, of Las Vegas died May 28 in Las Vegas. He was born March 8, 1923, in New York. A resident for 40 years, he was a retired sales technician and an Army veteran.

He is survived by two daughters, Carol Dein of Florida and Donna Ayres; and four grandchildren.

A private memorial service will be in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Dean J. McDaniel

Dean J. McDaniel, 90, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born April 16, 1914, in Pleasant Grove, Utah. A resident for 43 years, he was a state government maintenance worker.

He is survived by five daughters, LaDene David, Mary Jean Lytle, Sharon Metz, Sharyle Gregg and Deeann Clifford, all of Las Vegas; one brother, J.R. Adams of American Fork, Utah; 20 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to a 10 a.m. service Friday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

C.D. 'Bama' McKnight

C.D. "Bama" McKnight, 76, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born May 16, 1928, in Birmingham, Ala. A resident for 47 years, he was a retired government radiation health physicist and a Korean War Army veteran.

He is survived by two daughters, Colleen Shurtz of Orem, Utah, and Karen Esplin of St. George, Utah; four sons, Jack Babb of Houston, Tom McKnight and Patrick McKnight, both of Las Vegas, and Daryl McKnight of St. George; one brother, Harry McKnight of Altamonte Springs, Fla.; 25 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 6-8 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Additional visitation is scheduled one hour prior to an 11 a.m. service Saturday in the Las Vegas LDS Stake Center, 3400 W. Charleston Blvd. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Richard J. Pinderski

Richard J. Pinderski, 79, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born April 8, 1925, in Chicago. A resident for six years, he was a retired data processing manager and a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Angela; one son, Robert Pinderski of England; one brother, George Pinderski of Schiller Park, Ill., and Virginia Muzzey of Elmhurst, Ill.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1811 Pueblo Vista Drive. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest, 6701 N. Jones Blvd.

Girard L. Poirier

Girard L. Poirier, 70, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 24, 1934, in New York. A resident for 10 years, he was a retired government field agent and a Korean War Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria; three sons, Paul Poirier of Coral Springs, Fla., Steven Poirier of Orange Park, Fla., and Dr. Girard Poirier Jr. of Chesapeake, Va.; two daughters, Laura Frey and Alice Sansonetti, both of Newport Richie, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be in Massachusetts. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.

Terri Richards

Terri Richards, 52, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born Oct. 21, 1951, in Chicago. A resident for 52 years, she was a hotel keno supervisor.

She is survived by one daughter, Sherri Lokken of North Las Vegas; her companion, Brent Gomez of Las Vegas; four brothers, Torris Brand Jr., Monty Brand and Curtis Brand, all of Las Vegas, and Charles Brand of Peoria, Ill.

Services will be 10 a.m. Sunday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest, 6701 N. Jones Blvd.

Antonio Ruiz

Antonio Ruiz, 48, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born July 16, 1955, in the Philippines. A resident for six years, he was a sales agent.

He is survived by his mother, Carmen Gonzalez; three sisters, Monserrap Cheung, Carmen Meredith and Antonette Jose; and three brothers, Anton Gonzalez, Joaquin Gonzalez and Peter Gonzalez.

Visitation was scheduled 9 a.m. until noon services today in Garden Memorial Funeral Home, 3600 W. Vegas Drive.

Dan V. Smith

Dan V. Smith, 67, of Las Vegas died May 29 in Las Vegas. He was born June 12, 1936, in Louisiana. A resident for 34 years, he was a hotel porter.

He is survived by two brothers, Noble Smith Jr. and Fred Smith, and four sisters, Rosie M. Smith, Ruby Lee Mingo, Mary E. Johnson and Lucille Simmons, all of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. today in Thomas and Jones Funeral Home, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Thomas and Jones. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Ken Soprano

Ken Soprano, 52, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 3, 1951, in Providence, R.I. A resident for seven years, he was a chef and a member of the Culinary Union.

He is survived by his wife, Marcella; one stepson, Erick Tobias, and one stepdaughter, Michelle Tobias, both of Las Vegas; his parents, Frederick and Antonetta Soprano, and one sister, Carolyn Feuerborn, both of Ventura, Calif.

Rodney W. Spinazola

Rodney W. Spinazola, 52, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born July 6, 1951, in Natick, Mass. A resident for 13 years, he was a paving contractor and a Vietnam War Marine Corps veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Joan M. Grassey-Spinazola; one son, Joseph Spinazola of Las Vegas; his mother and stepfather, Edna and Charles Haapanen of Bath, N.Y.

Wilbur John Zecherle

Wilbur John Zecherle, 91, of Las Vegas died Tuesday. He was born Oct. 10, 1912, in Bloomer, Wis. A resident for one year, he was a retired civil service shop manager and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by two sons, John Zecherle, M.D., and Nick Zecherle, both of Novato, Calif.; one daughter, Vicki Zecherle-Dunawa of Las Vegas; one brother, F. Joe Zecherle of Magalia, Calif.; and five grandchildren.
