Ric Truesdell said this morning that a request for an ethics opinion filed against him by Lee Wayne Haynes was an attempt to influence the election, which is less than a week away.
Haynes filed the request based on two votes Truesdell made as chairman of the Las Vegas Planning Commission.
"This is humorous at best, slander at worst," said Truesdell. Early voting begins Friday and the election is Tuesday.
Truesdell that he confers with the city attorneys office before each meeting in which he may have a conflict. Truesdell said he did not vote in one of the two cases cited by Haynes. He said in the other, involving a parking lot in the area of some property he owns, his property was not in what is called the "notice area," deemed by city staff as being affected by the parking lot.
"These are not events, this is strictly to put a spotlight on me," Truesdell said. "This is a nuisance."
