Abraham 'Jack' Combs

Abraham "Jack" Combs, 63, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 22, 1940, in Albany, Calif. A resident for eight years, he was an automobile mechanic.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Sandra; three sons, Joshua Coombs of Henderson, John Pena Coombs III of Rio Linda, Calif., and Jeremiah Combs of Innsbruck, Austria; two daughters, Karla Covington of Phoenix and Kathleen Holley of Tulsa, Okla.; his father, John Pena Coombs Sr. of El Sobrante, Calif.; one sister, Darlene Stewart; five brothers, Richard Fraga, Daniel Merkel, David Merkel, Richard Merkel and James Fraga; eight grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Zenaida C. Cruz

Zenaida C. Cruz, 58, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born July 30, 1945, in the Philippines. A resident for nine years, she was a custodian for a national aviation company.

She is survived by her husband, Benjamin O.; four sons, Charlie Cruz, Cedric Cruz and Colin Cruz, all of the Philippines, and Chris Cruz of Oak Harbor, Wash.; one daughter, Cherrie Cruz-Medina of Las Vegas; four sisters, Lydia Villareal and Hedy Thompson, both of Las Vegas, Eloisa Alinsunurin of Germany and Cynthia Castillo of Los Angeles; two brothers, Virgilio Castillo of the Philippines and Dante Castillo of Los Angeles; and 16 grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 3-7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Additional visitation is scheduled 1-7 p.m. Thursday in Palm Chapel, Cheyenne. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday in Palm Chapel, Cheyenne. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest, 6701 N. Jones Blvd.

Doris Dorn

Doris Dorn, 78, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born Jan. 30, 1926, in Illinois. A resident for 34 years, she owned a printing company, was a former member of Women in Construction, Ladies of the Shrine and Daughters of the Nile.

She is survived by one son, Kelly Dorn; one daughter, Kathleen Kelly; one brother, Kenneth Blair; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

C.J. Ennis

C.J. Ennis, 22, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 19, 1981, in Lakewood, Calif. A resident for seven years, he was a ceramic tile finisher and a member of Bricklayers and Allied Craft Workers Local 13.

He is survived by one daughter, Cassidy Ennis, one son, Arend Ennis, and his mother, Janice Rice, all of Las Vegas; his father, Cameron Ennis of Henderson; his stepfather, Brian Rice of Las Vegas; and his grandparents, Geraldine VandenBerg of Seal Beach, Calif., and Richard and Rebecca Ennis of Bullhead City, Ariz.

Arthur E. High

Arthur E. High, 85, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 3, 1918, in South Bend, Ind. A resident for 10 years, he was a retired Air Force captain and World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War veteran and a member of the Retired Officers Association.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine A.; three sons, Gary E. High of Bakersfield, Calif., Keith M. High of Camarillo, Calif., and James A. High of Davis, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to an 11 a.m. service Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Graveside services will be 1:20 p.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Lamont Kimble

Lamont Kimble, 88, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born March 31, 1916, in Whitney, Texas. A resident for 41 years, she was a retired waitress.

She is survived by her husband, Charles; three sons, James Hutchison of Orange County, Calif., Larry Thorn of Mansfield, Mo., and Harry Thorn of Las Vegas; one daughter, Judy Giordano of Las Vegas; two stepsons, Dale Kimble of South Bend, Ind., and Terry Kimble of San Diego; one stepdaughter, Sharon Penix of South Bend; one sister, Evelyn Smith of Dallas; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Palm Chapel, Eastern. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Linda Kozic

Linda Kozic, 53, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born July 29, 1950, in New Jersey. A resident for eight years, she was a retired food server at local casinos.

She is survived by one daughter, Rebecca Testa; three brothers, Eugene Ronca, John Ronca and Robert Ronca; and one grandchild.

Jean Florence Rohde, 78, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born April 27, 1926, in Wisconsin. A resident for 18 years, she was retired.

She is survived by three sons, George Rohde, Jack Rohde and Charles Rohde; and two sisters, Florence Wollert and Betty Ray.

Betty Price Scott

Betty Price Scott, 74, of Searchlight died Saturday in Searchlight. She was born April 25, 1930, in Kansas. A resident for 16 years, she was a retired casino cashier.

She is survived by her husband, Sheldon Scott; three sisters, Grace, Midge and Marge; and two grandchildren.

George Clarence Smith Jr.

George Clarence Smith Jr., 56, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 10, 1948, in Indiana. A resident for 53 years, he was an air-conditioning technician, an Army veteran and a member of George's Club of Life.

He is survived by his companion, Virginia Smith; two daughters, Tamara Lynn and Deanne; two sisters, Carol M. Ross and Sheila Hanna; and six grandchildren.

Edward Stell

Edward Stell, 93, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local convalescent hospital. He was born Feb. 9, 1911, in Chicago. A resident for 30 years, he was a retired civil service engineer and a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Priscilla; one daughter, Ruth Riza of Arlington, Texas; and five grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday in Woodlawn Cemetery. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

Ray Stock Jr.

Ray Stock Jr., 84, of North Las Vegas died Friday in North Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 20, 1919, in Wyoming. A resident for 53 years, he was an operating engineer in the chemical industry, a captain for the North Las Vegas Police Reserves and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Bette R.; two sons, Dennis Stock and Gary Stock, both of Las Vegas; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Joseph W. Treat

Joseph W. Treat, 91, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born July 29, 1912, in Indianapolis. A resident for 26 years, he was a research company supervisor, a World War II Army veteran and a member of Widowed Persons Service, CBI Veterans Association, McCaw School of Mines, Mason Lodge and SCORE.

He is survived by his wife, Mabel; one son, James W. Treat of Las Vegas; one stepson, James Jarrell of Henderson; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 6 p.m. Friday in Christ the Servant Lutheran Church, 2 S. Pecos Road, Henderson. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Memory Gardens, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Dorothy Troiano

Dorothy Troiano, 82, of Henderson died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born May 23, 1922, in Marietta, Pa. A resident for 20 years, she was a retired hospital supply supervisor.

She is survived by three sons, John Troiano of Henderson, Paul Troiano of Las Vegas and Richard Troiano of Greenwood, Ind.; one brother, Fred Ross of Aliquippa, Pa.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to a 9 a.m. service Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Elmer Anthony Troik

Elmer Anthony Troik, 87, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. A retired district manager for a petroleum company, he was born July 23, 1916, in Chicago.

He is survived by his wife, Clara; and one son, Raymond Troik of Las Vegas.

Services and burial will be in California. Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

James Robert Vallandingham

James Robert Vallandingham, 84, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 20, 1920, in Kentucky. A resident for 10 1/2 years, he was a retired machine operator, an Army veteran and a member of Moose Lodge of Lake Isabella.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; one daughter, Kimberly Vallandingham; 10 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 10:40 a.m. Thursday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Frank Walker

Frank Walker, 70, of North Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 12, 1934, in Louisiana. A resident for 54 years, he was a security officer.

He is survived by his wife, Ellen; three daughters, Jonnie Joe Daniel and Carolyn Faye Mead, both of Fordyce, Ark., and Elma Jean Meads of Jackson, Tenn.; one brother, Samuel Bronidage of Chicago; and three sisters, Helen, Shirley and Jeanatte.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today in Thomas and Jones Funeral Home, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church, 1915 Lexington St. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
