Four teens accused of killing Silverado High School student Jared Whaley and burying the 17-year-old in a shallow desert grave near Boulder City pleaded not guilty before District Judge Donald Mosley on Tuesday and are scheduled to go to trial on Aug. 23.
Shane Myers, 18, Cody Myers, 18, Stephen Stringfield, 19, and Matthew Baker, 18, all pleaded not guilty to charges of murder with use of a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit murder, first-degree kidnapping with use of a deadly weapon and robbery with use of a deadly weapon.
The Myers brothers, Stringfield and Baker will all be tried together. Whaley was shot in the head and in the stomach on Oct. 14.
Authorities have alleged Baker was the leader of the group and wanted to kill Whaley because he had interfered with the group's drug dealing, according to police reports.
