Lake Mead Hospital in North Las Vegas changed its name and logo today as part of an image change under the hospital's new owner, Iasis Healthcare Corp.
The 198-bed hospital will now be called North Vista Hospital, which reflects its location and the surrounding mountain views in North Las Vegas and means "a new vision" in Spanish, hospital Chief Executive Craig Preston said in a statement.
The name was submitted by outpatient surgery registered nurse Lynda Neal and was among 250 choices.
During today's announcement, hospital executives also tore down a wall of the hospital's women's plaza to expand the hospital's obstetrics area to eight labor and delivery suites, 18 post-partum beds and a 700-square foot nursery, which is part of a $13 million investment to update the 45-year-old hospital. The hospital is also expanding its outpatient surgery department, adding a cardiac catheterization lab and upgrading diagnostic equipment.
