Food, beverage group hosts annual event
The Food and Beverage Directors Association of Nevada is hosting its annual Black Tie Dinner beginning with a reception and silent auction at 6 p.m. Saturday at The Venetian, to honor James E. Rogers, Chairman and CEO of Sunbelt Communications and interim chancellor of the University and Community College System of Nevada.
Special recognition will be given to Christopher Johns, executive chef at the Orleans.
The event will include an evening of cuisine, fine wines, entertainment provided by pianist Tim Boatman and Las Vegas headliner Marlene Ricci and her orchestra.
Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Food and Beverage Directors Association Scholarship Fund for food and beverage students at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas; Opportunity Village; and other organizations that provide help to the culinary arts and underprivileged children throughout the Las Vegas Valley.
Tickets are $220. To purchase tickets or make donations, call 203-1130.
Seminar to offer law school help
A free law school admissions and strategy seminar to help give prospective law school students a head start in today's competitive admissions environment will be from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday in the conference room at the Summerlin Library, 1771 Inner Circle Drive.
At the event, attendees will learn to navigate the law school admissions process and gain valuable LSAT test-taking strategies. Kaplan experts will also discuss such topics as:
Finding and researching schools; How schools evaluate applicants; How to write personal statements.
