Letter: Reagan plunged nation into debt

Ronald Reagan was an optimist, a charmer and a nice, moralistic guy. And he did some good things for the nation, especially in foreign relations.
This 93-year-old, however, recalls two things he did that were bad for the nation.
The gigantic reduction in the tax rate for the rich was despicable. It made the wealthy wealthier, but it plunged the nation into record-breaking deficits and national debt.
His breaking of the airline workers union marked the end of strong unions nationwide, in which the American worker was the highest paid in the world.
These twin disasters to the nation bring me to the conclusion that Reagan's presidency was a failure.
