Letter: Casino workers deserve more compensation

June 12 - 13, 2004
I found irony in two headlines in the June 7 Sun. Front page: "Compensation soars for casino executives." Business page: "Mandalay shares soar after takeover bid."
What do you think the rank-and-file employees of the casinos in town think of the raises they may, or may not, have gotten this year -- as they are the ones who made these headlines possible?
I would believe that the word in their case would be sore, as the raise or compensation I am sure does not cover the cost of living, considering the price of gasoline and all consumer goods.
When do you think these employees will get their due? As a betting man in a betting town, I doubt very much if any executive or shareholder will give anything extra back to those who created this windfall.
