Letter: Walkers, riders bear some blame

In response to the Sun's articles on Sunday headlined, "Moving targets": It's always amazing to me how people in this day and age blame others for their stupidity. The car was speeding, the roads are too wide, there are not enough police, the laws are too lax.
According to the thorough but long-winded main article by reporter Molly Ball, 78 percent of the fatal accidents did not occur in an intersection. Pedestrians and bicyclists should take responsibility for their actions! They should do what their parents taught them -- look both ways, left, right, left again. Never cross against traffic.
If pedestrians and bicyclists would heed this advice, perhaps, maybe, 78 percent of the 81 people who were killed since 2003 (63 people) might still be alive today.
