Famous Dave’s opens

Famous Dave's Legendary Pit Bar-B-Que, popular in the Midwest for its ribs, brisket and sauces, opened a franchise location in Las Vegas earlier this week. The grand opening, with a "rib"-cutting ceremony, was this morning. The Minneapolis, Minn.-based company hopes to open future Las Vegas-area locations within the next year. Dave Anderson is the restaurant's founder, the local franchise is owned by Jim Morrisey, principal of Sonoran Barbeque LLC. The 7,500-square-foot restaurant at 1951 N. Rainbow Blvd., at Lake Mead Boulevard, seats about 235 people and employs 100 staff members. There are 38 company-owned Famous Dave's and 57 franchise restaurants, most of them in the Midwest.
