Hal Bales
Hal Bales, 79, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local care center. He was born Oct. 12, 1924, in Waco, Texas. A resident for nine years, he was a retired owner of a printing firm and a World War II Army veteran.
He is survived by two daughters, Samie Colunga of Santa Ana, Calif., and Debra Shelton of Garland, Texas; and three grandchildren.
Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.
Solomon Brudy
Solomon Brudy, 76, of Henderson died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born March 4, 1928, in Minneapolis. A resident for 10 years, he was a pharmaceutical salesman and a Korean War Army veteran.
He is survived by one daughter, Leslie Brudy of Toms River, N.J.; two sons, Art Brudy of Henderson and Mitch Brudy of Toms River; one sister, Naomi Stokoloff of Winnepeg, Manitoba; and one grandchild.
Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, is handling arrangements.
Michael A. CdeBaca
Michael A. CdeBaca, 36, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born July 6, 1967, in California. A resident for 35 years, he was a paramedic.
He is survived by his companion, Kristin Giampapa; his father, Jay CdeBaca; and two sisters, April CdeBaca and Jamie CdeBaca.
A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

Benjamin DiSapio
Benjamin DiSapio, 83, of Henderson died Monday in Henderson. He was born Aug. 9, 1920, in New York City. A resident for seven years, he was a retired federal government quality assurance specialist and a World War II Navy veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa; two daughters, Lorraine DiSapio and Christine DiSapio, and one son, Richard DiSapio, all of Henderson; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. today and 9-11 a.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will follow at noon Friday in St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 130 N. Pecos Road, Henderson. Burial will be in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.
Janie L. Ellis
Janie L. Ellis, 76, of Las Vegas died June 1 in Oceanside, Calif. She was born Aug. 13, 1927, in Kaufman, Texas. A resident for 41 years, she was a retired registered nurse at University Medical Center, a nursing supervisor, an emergency room nursing supervisor and an admitting supervisor. She was also one of two nurse coordinators who helped launch Nevada's pilot program for the training of paramedics in the early '70s.
She was preceded in death by her second husband, Robert Clay Ellis, and one son, William DiBella.
She is survived by one son, John M. DiBella, two daughters, Virginia Stojack and Suzan M. DiBella, all of Las Vegas; one brother, Max Nash of New Caney, Texas; and two grandchildren.
Services are private.

Doris M. (Westwood) Fletcher
Doris M. (Westwood) Fletcher, 78, of Las Vegas died Friday in Bakersfield, Calif. A resident for 10 years, she was a retired retail clerk.
She is survived by two sons, Donald Fletcher of Bakersfield, Calif., and Dennis Fletcher of Las Vegas; one sister, Betty Matysik of Endeavor, Wis.; and three grandchildren.
Visitation was scheduled one hour prior to an 11 a.m. service today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will be in Palm Valley View Cemetery.
Leon Franklin
Leon Franklin, 72, of North Las Vegas died Tuesday in North Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 23, 1932, in Lost Corner, Ark. A resident for three years, he was a retired Air Force senior master sergeant and Korean War and Vietnam War veteran, a member of the Disabled American Veterans and California Sheriffs Association.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen; two sons, Leon Franklin Jr. of Manteca, Calif., and David Franklin of Colfax, Calif.; one daughter, Ruth Bettis of Sacramento; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services were scheduled at 3 p.m. today in Spring Valley Baptist Church, 3135 S. Rainbow Blvd. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

Manuel D. Garcia
Manuel D. Garcia, 65, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born May 7, 1939, in Cuba. A resident for 28 years, he was a physician.
He is survived by his wife, Maria D.

Joseph J. Giacomaro
Joseph J. Giacomaro, 88, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospice. He was born Jan. 14, 1916, in New York. A resident for 32 years, he was a retired paint salesman and a World War II Army veteran.
He is survived by two sons, Michael J. Giacomaro and James J. Giacomaro, both of Las Vegas; two brothers, Thomas Giacomaro of El Monte, N.Y., and Tiny Giacomaro of New York state; one sister, Ana Auturi of Manorville, N.Y.; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

George E. Green
George E. Green, 69, of Las Vegas died June 2 in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 10, 1934, in Banks, Ark. A resident for 48 years, he was a driver.
He is survived by his wife, Maylean; three sons, Charles Green, Robert C. Green and LeRoy Jackson Jr., and three daughters, Sue Green, Loretta Green and Darlene Green, all of Las Vegas; five brothers, Bobby Green of North Las Vegas and Sherman Green, Roggie Green, Mike Green and Willie Green, all of Warren, Ark.; two sisters, Joyce Williams of Warren and Martha Preston of Las Vegas; 18 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will continue until 8 p.m. today in Thomas and Jones Funeral Home, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Victory Missionary Baptist Church, 500 W. Monroe Ave. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Marquet D. Hayes, 30, of Las Vegas died June 3 in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 10, 1974. A lifelong resident, he was a warehouse laborer.
He is survived by his wife, Glenda Hayes, two daughters, Doneisha Harvey and Latisha Larry, one son, Marquet Hayes Jr., his mother, Minnie Hayes, his father, Freddie Gray, three brothers, Vernon Hayes, Marcus Hayes and Demarco Hayes, and one sister, Minyon Hayes, all of Las Vegas.
Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today in Thomas and Jones Funeral Home, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday in True Love Missionary Baptist Church, 1941 H. St. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Reta Jeanne Hehr
Reta Jeanne Hehr, 78, of North Las Vegas died May 31 in a local care center. She was born March 29, 1926, in Illinois. A resident for 35 years, she was a public school teacher.
She is survived by four sons, Andrew Hehr, Roger Hehr, Michael Hehr and John Hehr; two daughters, Jeanne Hamburg and Susan August; one sister, Joanne; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Dorothy L. Higgins, 63, of Las Vegas died May 29 in Las Vegas. She was born June 21, 1940, in Santa Monica, Calif. A resident for 40 years, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Bill; two daughters, Shannon Higgins and Dana Hatton; her mother, Earlene Collins; her stepmother, Betty Tommasin; three brothers, Jack Collins, Richard Collins and Steve Tommasino; three sisters, Jane Talley, Donna Matsinger and Lisa Tommasino; and three grandchildren.

Nellie Darlene Hintz
Nellie Darlene Hintz, 69, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born June 4, 1935, in Washington state. A resident for 40 years, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by two sons, Mario Bonaventura and Tim Davis; three daughters, Michelle Curran, Denise Petrocelli and Nicole Moore; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North.
Carrie April Kapala
Carrie April Kapala, 32, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born Nov. 15, 1971, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, she was an apartment leasing agent and a Western High School graduate.
She is survived by her husband, Sean; one daughter, Kayla Lynn Marxsen, her father, Robert Rouw, her mother, Peggy Medina, and her grandparents, Bill and Frieda Rouw, all of Las Vegas.

Arthur Laliberte
Arthur Laliberte, 45, of Las Vegas died Sunday. He was born June 23, 1958, in Pawtucket, R.I. A resident for 11 years, he was a cabinet installer.
He is survived by his wife, Madeleine; one son, William Michael Laliberte of Pawtucket, R.I. his parents, Arthur and Eva Laliberte of Las Vegas; one sister, Kathy Ricard of Henderson.

Linda Leavitt
Linda Leavitt, 49, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born Oct. 6, 1954, in Frankfurt, Germany. A lifelong resident, she was a parts clerk for a trucking company.
She is survived by her father, Lawrence Leavitt of Las Vegas; two sisters, Denise Langendorf of Pahrump and Suzanne Paulson of Brooten, Minn.; and her brother, Bruce Leavitt of Las Vegas.

Nellie K. Moon
Nellie K. Moon, 68, of Henderson died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born Dec. 14, 1935, in Platteville, Colo. A resident for one year, she was a retired department store sales clerk.
She is survived by one daughter, Carrie L. Hinton of San Diego; five sisters, Sadie Shintani of Orange, Calif., Minnie MacLean and Ruth Spaur, both of Henderson, and Sayko Bauer and Margaret Nakata, both of Denver; three brothers, Frank Takemoto of Thornton, Colo., James Takemoto of Ontario, Calif., and Dick Takemoto of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, John; one daughter, Cheryl Williams of Henderson; two sons, Frank Morris and Terrill Morris, both of Las Vegas; her mother, Lillian Dawson of Henderson; two sisters, Annette Hastings of Las Vegas and Sharon Block of Vancouver, Wash.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Peter James Rumore Sr., 73, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born July 12, 1930, in Connecticut.
He is survived by his wife, Roberta; two sons, Peter Rumore Jr. and Ronald Rumore; and three daughters, Cheryl Gavreledes, Paulyne Rumore and Lisa Rumore.

Robert C. Sheets
Robert C. Sheets, 83, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 14, 1920, in Guyan Township, Ohio. A resident for more than 30 years, he was a retired electrician and a World War II Coast Guard veteran.
He is survived by one daughter, Ruth Turner of Las Vegas; one son, Robert Sheets Jr. of Grove Port, Ohio; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be 9:20 a.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.

A.J. Thompson, 79, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born July 29, 1924, in Rayville, La. A resident for 51 years, he was a carpenter, a World War II Army veteran, a member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, founder of Victory Missionary Baptist Church and pastor of Zion Chapel Community Outreach.
He is survived by his wife, Beatrice; three daughters, Eloise Strode of Mexico and Joclyn Oates and Henrietta Thompson, both of Las Vegas; three sons, Mylas Thompson, Irlas Thompson and Abner J. Thompson, all of Las Vegas; two stepsons, Michael Curtis of Las Vegas and Harold Walter of Seattle; two stepdaughters, Valerie Johnson of Las Vegas and Jennifer Thompson of Alton, Ill.; one brother, Freddie Thompson of Bostrop, La.; three sisters, Ethel Hawkins of Las Vegas, Malinda Hosey of Texas and Martha Washington of Bostrop; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Edward J. Wanser, 83, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born April 28, 1921, in Oyster Bay, N.Y. A resident for six years, he was a retired retail salesman and a World War II Marine Corps veteran.
He is survived by one son, James Wanser of Las Vegas; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
