Police: LV man arrested in child pornography sting

Metro Police discovered child pornography on the computer of a 51-year-old man after he arranged to meet a 13-year-old girl for a possible sexual encounter, according to a police report.
Clifton Olvera was arrested June 3 on five counts of child pornography possession. A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for June 18.
According to the arrest report, an undercover officer from the California Bureau of Investigation was posing as a teenage girl in a chat room in December, and Olvera initiated a sexual online conversation.
They chatted frequently online over the next few months, and a female detective posed as the girl during telephone conversations.
The "girl" told Olvera she would be visiting Las Vegas. They agreed to meet and when she asked what he wanted to do sexually, he said, according to the report, "just have to see what kind of trouble (we) can get into."'
Olvera said he was apprehensive about meeting her because he heard about stings all the time, the report says.
At the designated meeting place, police took Olvera into custody but did not place him under arrest. He agreed to answer questions and agreed to allow police to search his home.
Olvera said he had engaged in phone sex with a girl he thought was 13, and that their online conversations were sexual in nature, according to the report.
Police seized computer equipment from his home and searches revealed 10 images of child pornography, but police charged him in connection with five of the images that showed girls appearing to be under 16 years old.
A warrant was issued for his arrest in May and he was booked into the Clark County Detention Center last week. He is being held on $125,000 bail.
