Bachelor auction is scheduled

Adam and Eve's Charity Love Fling, a bachelor and bachelorette auction to benefit New Vista Community, will be held 7 p.m. July 15 at the Plush Night Club inside the Rampart Casino, 221 N. Rampart Blvd.

Local executives will be participating in the auction to help raise awareness and money for the developmentally disabled.

Tickets will be available for pre-purchase at all Roland's ladies clothing stores. Tickets can also be purchased at New Vista Community Emporium, 3085 S. Valley View or at Plush Lounge.

Firefighters to play basketball benefit

The Heat Is On, a charitable basketball tournament between the county firefighters and the city firefighters will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Doolittle Recreation Center, 1950 N. J St., to benefit firefighter Capt. Theo Adams.

The event will offer games, prizes, a raffle, mall certificates, shooting contests, refreshments by Starbucks, fire hats, coloring books for the kids, a slam dunk contest, a co-ed 3-point shooting contest, food, and on-site voter registration.

Donation is $10. Receive 15 raffle tickets.

Cantorial concert on tap Sunday

The Jewish Community Center will present its fifth annual cantorial concert at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Summerlin Library, 1771 Inner Circle Drive.

The concert will celebrate the melodies of Shabbat performed by the voices of the synagogues and temples. Performers will include David Averbach with Temple Beth Am, Phillip Goldstein of Congregation Ner Tamid, Daniel Friedman of Temple Beth Sholom, Abbott Mosher of Temple Bet Emet, Lola Rivera of Adat Ari El and Irv Weinberger of Adat Ari El.

Tickets for the concert are from $12 to $18.

Family to Family to host baby shower

Family to Family Connection Northwest 13 will be holding its Community Baby Shower from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the new baby center, 6114 Charleston Blvd.

The event is an opportunity to share and discover all the great joys and challenges of being a new parent. It is also an opportunity to meet staff members and learn about the services that Family to Family offers to parents of newborns and toddlers.

Diabetes group to honor Sandoval

Nevada Attorney General Brian Sandoval and Tony F. Sanchez III, immediate past president of the Las Vegas Latin Chamber of Commerce, will be honored by the American Diabetes Association from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Las Vegas Hilton for their contributions to improve the quality of life for many Nevada families.

The event is designed to raise awareness about diabetes among high risk groups, particularly Hispanics. Speakers featured will be Gary Earl, vice president of benefits, Caesars Entertainment, who will speak on the impact of diabetes and diabetes awareness.

Tickets are $50.
