Power lines trap truck driver in cab

Nevada Power crews freed a garbage truck driver who became trapped after his truck hit live power lines about 9:30 a.m. today in a parking lot off Desert Inn Road near Eastern Avenue.

Crews said the truck touched the power lines while lifting a trash bin into the cargo area. The driver, who was uninjured, stayed in the truck while crews worked to remove the power lines.

A fire station lost power briefly after the accident before emergency generators kicked in, Clark County Fire Department spokesman Bob Leinbach said.
