Letter: Uniforms aid in preparation

Some parents, it seems, could not care less about how their kids dress for school. Even many adults anymore, in white-collar jobs, come to work dressed like blue-collar workers. To work in my place of business, and others, you will dress to a limited code or work elsewhere. Coming to work wearing a dress coat, jeans and no socks won't get it.
I do not hire those with rings in their nose, lips, eyebrows, etc. Over-extended fingernails interfere with speed on a computer. It has nothing to do with civil rights, race, First Amendment or whatever. It has everything to do with running a business efficiently and profitably. Many companies don't want workers who may look like they are from outer space, as it could scare away business.
Parents must forget this "do as you please" thing and consider their children's future. Kids learn from what their parents say and do at home.
