Jewish center plans bowling league
The Jewish Community Center Summer Bowling League will begin at 6:20 p.m. Thursday at the Suncoast Bowling Center.
JCC Bowling provides an opportunity to meet new people while enjoying bowling in a noncompetitive atmosphere.
Positions for permanent players are still available and substitutes are needed on an occasional basis. If you are interested in bowling on a JCC league or would like additional information, call Nancy Weingberger at 794-0090, or email at nancyw@jccsn.org.
Grand opening set for group home
A grand opening ceremony and open house are planned for 11 a.m. Saturday for the boys group home owned by Optimist International Boys Club of Southern Nevada and operated by Fresh Start Services.
The group home has been refurbished with the support of area businesses in an outreach project by the Southern Nevada Multi-Housing Association and the Optimists. The home is located at 5521 Apricot Lane.
Fresh Start's goal is to provide a therapeutic home with optimal quality, culturally relevant, assessment, treatment, placement and post-placement services to children who have been taken out of home due to abuse, neglect and abandonment, or may have been engaged in delinquent behavior, and have been deemed as wards of the court.

Art Center hosts special event
The Boulder City Art Center, 801 Adams Blvd., will present another event in its Visiting Artists Series from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
The event will feature Art Center pottery instructors Craig Corey, Debbie Hagan and Julie Connell. Attendees will see demonstrations and be able to talk to the artists.
Each artist will then display his/her work at the Art Center for three weeks following the first Sunday of the month event. Works will be for sale with a portion of the proceeds being donated to the Boulder City Art Center.

Dads featured in Sunrise event
Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center's Center for Healthy Families is hosting the free Dads, You're Special event from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Thursday in the hospital auditorium, 3186 S. Maryland Parkway.
Moderated by Beth Regal, Sunrise's childbirth education coordinator, panelists include local television news personalities Kendell Tenney, Mitch Roberts, Nate Tannenbaum and David Regal, a writer and stay-at-home dad.
