Letter: Wrong time for children to be playing in water
Wednesday, June 2, 2004 | 9:05 a.m.
Excuse me! Will someone kindly refresh my memory? I thought we were in a severe drought.
Seeing the picture captioned, "Refreshing break," in the May 25 edition of the Las Vegas Sun infuriated me beyond belief. The picture showed children in Mission Hills Park in Henderson playing in the water. It also showed large puddles of water and children spraying each other down with water.
In my latest water bill I received notice that I can be fined if any water from my lawn happens to run off onto the sidewalk. I can understand this and even agree with it. But to allow this terrible misuse of water -- as recreation for children -- is more than a gross misdemeanor.
There are far more important uses for our water, especially in this drought period that sees no end in the immediate future.
