John J. Baerveldt
John J. Baerveldt, 81, of Henderson died Sunday in a local hospice. He was born April 10, 1923, in New York. A resident for two years, he was a retired boat manufacturer and a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; one son, John Baerveldt of Kalispell, Mont.; one brother, Peter Baerveldt, and one sister, Sophie Hillenbrand, both of Sarasota, Fla.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Ronald L. Brown
Ronald L. Brown, 69, of Henderson died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Nov. 17, 1934, in Clayton, Wis. A resident for eight years, he was a retired hospital maintenance worker, a Marine Corps veteran, a member of the Marine Corps League, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans.
He is survived by his wife, Judith; one daughter, Carol Brown of San Diego; one brother, Stephen Brown of Thomason, Ga.; and one sister, Beverly Davenport of Waunakee, Wis.
Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.
Roland Arthur Bruegger
Roland Arthur Bruegger, 66, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. A retired museum host and a Navy veteran, he was born June 4, 1937, in Berlin, Wis.
He is survived by one sister, Nancy L. Reed of Pryor, Okla.; and two nieces, Tara M. Reed of Pryor and Krista L. Dann of Parker, Colo.

Minnie Ceffalio
Minnie Ceffalio, 95, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospice. She was born March 1, 1909, in Chicago. A resident for 27 years, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by one son, Paul G. Ceffalio of Las Vegas; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 10 a.m.-noon Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.
Charles A. Dolan
Charles A. Dolan, 73, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 8, 1931, in New York. A resident for 25 years, he was a retired civil service engineer and a Korean War Air Force veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Anne; one son, Scott Dolan of Chicago; three daughters, Brenda Dolan of Florida and Theresa Dolan and Kathleen Dolan, both of Las Vegas; two brothers, Donald Dolan of New York state and Paul Dolan of Mississippi; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Abraham 'Abe' Feiner
Abraham "Abe" Feiner, 81, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local health care center. He was born Jan. 19, 1923, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for 23 years, he was a retired poker dealer and a World War II Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred; three daughters, Barbara Kahn, Suzanne Mehr and Terry Feiner, and one son, Alan Feiner, all of Las Vegas; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery, 2697 Eldorado Lane. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Caroline Fisher
Caroline Fisher, 69, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born Aug. 31, 1934, in California. A resident for 37 years, she was a retired co-owner of an insurance agency.

Kenneth W. Gray
Kenneth W. Gray, 42, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born March 25, 1962, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, he was a laborer and maintenance worker for REECo at the Nevada Test Site.
He is survived by six sisters, Juanita Gray, Susan L. Millage, Sandra Lee, Paulette Gray, Debbie Gray-Owens and Georgette Funches, all of Las Vegas.
Services were scheduled at 11 a.m. today at Greater Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church, 1915 Lexington St., followed by burial in Woodlawn Cemetery. Thomas and Jones Funeral Home, 310 Foremaster Lane, is handling arrangements.
James 'Scottie' Hix
James "Scottie" Hix, 73, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born April 3, 1931, in Tahlequah, Okla. A resident for 30 years, he was a floor coverer.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Sue; five sons, Randy Shaw and Eddie Shaw, both of Las Vegas, Jim Kline of California and Bob Kline and Bruce Kline, both of Washington state; two daughters, Crystal Harris of Las Vegas and Kathy Kline of California; one brother, Press Hix of Arizona; two sisters, Joann Hix of California and Mae Thompson of Oklahoma; and seven grandchildren.
Nevada Funeral Service-Nevada Cremation or Burial Society, 2983 Fremont St., is arranging private services.
Frank Shannon Naser
Frank Shannon Naser, 79, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local care center. He was born Dec. 27, 1924, in Washington, Pa. A resident for 41 years, he was a retired electrician, a World War II Navy veteran, a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and Southern Nevada Blue Grass Association.
He is survived by two daughters, Mary Lee Cooper of Las Vegas and Becky Thomas of Granite Falls, Wash.; one son, Leo Naser of Las Vegas; two sisters, Charlotte Greene of Andover, Ohio, and Donna Puff of Enderlin, N.D.; two brothers, Roy Naser and Cletus Naser, both of Washington; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 2 p.m. until a 7 p.m. service Sunday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. An additional service will be 1 p.m. Monday in Palm Chapel, Main. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park.
Sean Michael Parker
Sean Michael Parker, 11, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born July 10, 1992, in Henderson. A resident for many years, he was a student.
He is survived by his father, Kevin M. Parker, his mother, Andrea Wirt, and one brother, Andrew K. Parker, all of Las Vegas.
Visitation is scheduled 5-7 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday in St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 130 N. Pecos Road, Henderson. Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Palm Valley View Memorial Park, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.
Elmer 'Al' Piltaver
Elmer "Al" Piltaver, 77, of Henderson died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born July 16, 1926, LaSalle, Ill. A resident for 5 1/2 years, he was a retired supervisor at a metal plating plant and a World War II Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by one son, James Piltaver; and one brother, Robert Piltaver.
He is survived by his wife, Rose; two daughters, Sharon Butts of Bloomington, Ill., and Linda Williamson of Lostant, Ill.; four brothers, Joseph Piltaver, Vernon Piltaver and Alan Piltaver, all of LaSalle and Ronald Piltaver of Brookfield, Ill.; one sister, Arlene Borys of Peru, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
No local services are scheduled. Visitation and services will be in Illinois. King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery, 2697 Eldorado Lane.
The family suggests donations to the building fund for St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church of Henderson or St. Joseph Catholic Church of Peru.
Robert J. Shannon
Robert J. Shannon, 73, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born June 15, 1930, in Gary, Ind. A resident for 24 years, he was a retired firefighter.
He is survived by his wife, Cori; three sons, Michael Shannon of Corona, Calif., Daniel Shannon of Shelly, Idaho, and Kevin Shannon of Henderson; eight daughters, Mary McHugh of Forest Falls, Calif., Kathleen Truber and Carrie Rond, both of Las Vegas, Maureen Campbell of Spavinaw, Okla., Patricia Gilliam and Terri Taylor, both of Pocatello, Idaho, Colleen Shannon of Garden Grove, Calif., and Kelly Erin Shannon of Hemet, Calif.; two stepsons, Mark Sandoval of Anaheim, Calif., and Nick Sandoval of San Francisco; one sister, Barbara Jones of Montesano, Wash.; two brothers, Richard Mehlenbacher and Ted Mehlenbacher, both of Tacoma, Wash.; 24 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 3-7 p.m. Thursday with a 5:30 p.m. service and 9 a.m. until an 11 a.m. service Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Ralph Smith, 68, of Henderson died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 10, 1935, in Springfield, Ohio. A resident for 10 years, he was a retired corporate manager in telecommunications and a member of a duplicate bridge club.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine; two sons, Gregory Smith of Redondo Beach, Calif., and Michael Smith of Parks Hill, Ky.; one sister, Patricia Casey of Springfield, Ohio; and one grandchild.

Helen B. Sullivan
Helen B. Sullivan, 77, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospice. She was born July 19, 1926, in Danvers, Mass. A resident for more than 40 years, she was a retired city government social worker.
She is survived by her husband, Robert.
Visitation is scheduled 9-10 a.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Bessie M. Williams
Bessie M. Williams, 88, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born March 9, 1916, in Colfax, Calif. A resident for 63 years, she was a retired Golden Nugget pantry worker.
She is survived by two sons, the Rev. Wendell Williams of Clifton Park, N.Y., and Terry Williams of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 1189 W. Hassell Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.
