Letter: Being liberal a noble cause
Tuesday, June 1, 2004 | 9:59 a.m.
Liberal. The favorite word used by those who disagree with some point of view not aligned with theirs. When did liberal become a slanderous remark?
The connotation is that somehow liberals steal or favor social objectives that damage others. So why is it that most religions ask that their congregations be liberal? Don't most religions promote tithing, assisting the downtrodden, helping your neighbor and charitable giving?
Is it OK to be a liberal on Sunday and the antithesis, a conservative, the remainder of the week? If liberals are all about helping others and sharing, then are conservatives "all about me"?
