Plumbing contractor sold

Hughes Supply, a leading distributor of construction, repair and maintenance-related products based in Orlando, Fla., announced today that it completed the acquisition of Todd Pipe & Supply, which it calls the largest independent wholesale plumbing supplier in Southern California and Las Vegas. The price was not disclosed.

Todd Supply, based in Hawthorne, Calif., has one Las Vegas branch office that employs 48 people, said Allen Adams, local branch manager. Adams said all the local employees will stay with the company.

Karl McMillen, owner and chairman of Todd Pipe, founded the company in 1966. Adams said McMillen sold the company because he wanted to retire and thought Hughes Supply was the best fit for the company's employees.

Phone directory company enters Vegas market

Las Vegas Valley business owners interested in advertising in telephone directories will soon have three yellow page publishers to choose from.

Uniondale, N.Y.-based Yellow Book USA announced Friday it is entering the Las Vegas market. It will compete with the R.H. Donnelley-owned Sprint Yellow Pages and Fronteer Directory Co. of Nevada Inc.'s Fronteer Telephone Book.

The Valley's yellow pages advertising market is valued at $120 million annually, Yellow Book said.

Yellow Book operates in 42 states and Washington, D.C., and is now selling ads for its Las Vegas Valley directory. Yellow Book will be available to Las Vegas Valley residents and business owners next June and will offer business pages, community and government information, area maps, local restaurant menus and coupons.
