'Student Showcase'
Students will showcase their artwork, dance routines and musical numbers at a "Summer Student Showcase" from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the East Las Vegas Community/Senior Center, 250 N. Eastern Ave. Admission is free. 229-1515.
Barn dance
The Southern Nevada Old-Time Contra Dancers present an "Old-Time Barn Dance" from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Charleston Heights Arts Center ballroom, 800 S. Brush St. Admission is $6 adults, $5 members, $3 students and active military, free for children under 15.
'Harry Potter'
The City of Las Vegas presents the movie "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 5, at the East Las Vegas Community/Senior Center, 250 N. Eastern Ave., as part of its "Youth Movie Series." Admission is free. 229-1515.
'Finding Nemo'
The Las Vegas-Clark County Library District presents the family film "Finding Nemo" at 8 p.m. Monday at the Rainbow Library ampitheatre, 3150 N. Buffalo Drive, as part of its "Moonlight, Movies and Music" series. Admission is free. 734-7323.
Arts presentation
The Performing & Visual Arts Camp for Kids 2004 will make its final presentations at 2 p.m. Saturday at the West Las Vegas Library Theatre, 951 W. Lake Mead Blvd. Admission is free, and student performances will include theatre, dance, film production, visual arts and music. A reception will be held at the theater at 12:30 p.m. Saturday. 'Amazing Castle'
The traveling interactive exhibit, "The Amazing Castle," continues until Aug. 29 at the Lied Discovery Children's Museum, 833 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Admission is $6 adults, $5 children 1-17, seniors and military families. 382-3445.
Tai Chi classes
Free classes in the martial art Tai Chi will be taught from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesday at the District at Green Valley Ranch, near the intersection of Green Valley Parkway and Interstate 215. 851-3082.
Acting classes
Clark County Parks & Community Services is offering free acting classes from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. every Wednesday at Whitney Center, 5712 E. Missouri Ave. Pre-registration is requested. 455-7576.
