Letter: ‘Roadless Rule’ aids environment
Thursday, July 29, 2004 | 9:16 a.m.
Regarding your July 19 editorial concerning a rollback by the Bush administration of the wilderness roadless laws, I wish to thank you for your rational, common sense and protective approach to the subject.
The conservative right wants to annihilate 40 years of environmental progress for the sake of corporate greed, by receiving reciprocal donations to the Republican National Committee.
Meanwhile, rural America is becoming overwhelmed with polluting, noisy, dusty, and, most importantly, damaging all-terrain vehicles. Reversing the protective roadless laws will cause irreparable damage to an already besieged environment. Why don't they get it? We all have the same address -- planet Earth.
