Ronald Abramczyk

Ronald Abramczyk, 50, of Mentor, Ohio, died July 10 in Las Vegas. A welder for an electricity company, he was born July 16, 1953, in Ohio.

He is survived by his wife, Kim; and three daughters, Kelly, Kristin and Kourtney.

Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, handled arrangements.

Rose Colovechio

Rose "Grandma Choo-Choo" Colovechio, 87, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 13, 1916, in New York. A resident for 32 years, she was a retired school secretary.

Graveside services will be 9 a.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Clarence 'Bud' Byrd

Clarence "Bud" Byrd, 80, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 17, 1923, in Bell, Calif. A resident for 60 years, he was a retired hotel dealer, a World War II Navy veteran and active in team roping.

He is survived by three daughters, Sandy Wheeler of Sequim, Wash., Candace Walters of Central Point, Ore., and Kay Nicksick of San Diego; two brothers, Tiny Byrd of Las Vegas and Babe Byrd of Whittier, Calif.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be 9 a.m. Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Dorothy J. Harkins

Dorothy J. Harkins, 85, of Henderson died Sunday in Henderson. She was born March 26, 1919, in Racine, Wis. A resident for 50 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by three daughters, Patricia Ellis and Susan Weakland, both of Henderson, and Janice Harkins of Las Vegas; one son, Ray Harkins of Las Vegas; one sister, Lorraine Reed of Council Bluffs, Iowa; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling private arrangements.

Lisa Ann 'Sunny' Horton

Lisa Ann "Sunny" Horton, 41, of Mitchell, S.D., died Saturday in a Mitchell hospital. She was born Feb. 21, 1963, in Liberty, N.Y. A former Las Vegas resident, she taught school in Las Vegas for two years, was a 1981 Eldorado High School graduate, graduated from UNLV in 1985 with a degree in social work and earned her teaching certificate in elementary education two years later. In 1996 she moved to Mitchell where she was a volunteer at Longfellow School, coached soccer, swimming, football and track.

She is survived by one son, Cody Horton of Mitchell; her parents, Fred and Myrna Hutt of Las Vegas; and one brother, Eric Hutt of Carson City.

No local services are scheduled. Bittner Funeral Chapel, 805 West Havens, Mitchell, SD 57301, is handling arrangements.

Elwood Neils Neilson

Elwood Neils Neilson, 75, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born July 15, 1929, in Washington, Utah. A resident for 60 years, he was a Korean War Navy veteran and a former member of Teamsters Local 631.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Edna; one son, Derek Neilson of Las Vegas; one daughter, Lisa Thomas of Chandler, Ariz.; and eight grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 3-7 p.m. Tuesday at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Additional visitation is scheduled one hour prior to a 10 a.m. service Wednesday in the LDS Sunrise Terrace chapel, 2295 N. Walnut Road. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in Washington City Cemetery, Washington, Utah.

Al Nichols

Al Nichols, 70, of Spokane, Wash., died July 6 in Spokane. He was born April 1, 1934, in New York City. A former Las Vegas resident, he was a Korean War veteran.

He is survived by two sons, Alex Nichols and Daniel Nichols; one daughter, Joanne Finck; and nine grandchildren.

A memorial service with honor guard and taps will be 2 p.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home, 1306 N. Pines Road Spokane Valley, (509) 924-9700, is handling arrangements.

Larry Phillips

Larry Phillips, 64, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born April 16, 1940, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for 3 1/2 years, he was a retired aerospace engineer.

He is survived by his wife, DeeAnn; one son, Ron Phillips of Northport, N.Y.; two daughters, Kim Moore of Las Vegas and Amber Gladding of Columbus, Ga.; and five grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Andrew R. Richards Jr.

Andrew R. Richards Jr., 61, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospice. He was born Aug. 27, 1942, in Toledo, Ohio. A resident for 53 years, he was a casino floorman and a Vietnam War Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Sheryl; one son, Gwin Richards, and one daughter, Stephanie Combado, both of Las Vegas; two sisters, Jeannie Dowell of Sandusky, Ohio, and Judy Gordon of Las Vegas; and four grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest, 6701 N. Jones Blvd. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

Andrew V. Sproul

Andrew V. Sproul, 67, of Alamo died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born May 11, 1937, in Minersville, Utah. A former Las Vegas resident for 43 years and most recently an Alamo resident for four years, he was a retired crane operator, an Army veteran, a member of the Masons and Shriners.

He is survived by his wife, Jan; one son, Andrew A. Sproul of Las Vegas; three daughters, Shirley A. Fredenburg and Sharon Y. McBerty, both of Las Vegas. and Sandra C. Grella of North Las Vegas; four sisters, Inise Spendlove and Irene Blackwell, both of North Las Vegas, Jeanette Stewart of Pahrump and Rebecca Patrick of Electric City, Wash.; four brothers, John L. Sproul of Indian Springs, Lawrence Sproul of St. Maries, Idaho, and David Sproul and Charles A. Sproul, both of Las Vegas; and 15 grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to a 2 p.m. service Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest, 6701 N. Jones Blvd.
