Killing linked to burglary

A 26-year-old Las Vegas man was killed in the parking lot of an off-Strip nightclub because he allegedly had burglarized a woman's apartment, according to a Metro Police report.

Julia Jarrell, 34, was arrested Thursday and Ramon Iniguez, 27, was arrested last month in connection with the May 4 shooting of 26-year-old Marc Somers.

Jarrell filed a burglary report with Metro after her apartment was broken into on April 21. She listed the stolen property as a plasma television, diamond ring, $2,500 cash and a .45-caliber handgun, and told police she suspected Somers and his girlfriend.

The police report said Jarrell began offering friends $1,000 to anyone who could get her property back from Somers. Through mutual friends, a meeting was set up between Jarrell and Somers so she could ask him about her belongings.

Jarrell and Iniguez met Somers in the parking lot of the Ice Las Vegas nightclub near Harmon Avenue and Koval Lane. Iniguez planned to confront Somers over Jarrell's stolen property.

Jarrell gave Iniguez a .22-caliber revolver and told him to shoot Somers if he ran, "and since it's only a .22, he wouldn't die," the report says.

Witnesses said Iniguez grabbed Somers and tried to pistol whip him while in a car, the report says. Somers fled from the car and Iniguez allegedly shot him several times. He later died at University Medical Center.

Iniguez then went to the Ellis Island hotel and threw the gun on the roof of the garage, according to the report. He later retrieved the pistol and gave it back to Jarrell, the report says. Jarrell allegedly gave Iniguez $100 after the shooting.
