Letter: Southern Nevada health care needs must be assessed
Friday, July 23, 2004 | 8:52 a.m.
Thankfully, the Cleveland Clinic Foundation has decided not to build a facility in downtown Las Vegas. A medical center does not belong in a congested area with poor public access. Also, how much public money was wasted in trying to recruit this clinic? That money could have been given to WestCare for our current crises in handling mental illness.
As for the medical needs of Southern Nevada, why not put together an impartial, qualified group -- at no cost to the taxpayers -- to quickly and accurately assess them?
One need we should consider is a University of Health Sciences, whose graduates would include doctors, nurses, pharmacists, laboratory technicians, dentists, medical and dental assistants and technicians.
